Ines Sainz News: The NFL issued a memo regarding its equal access and conduct policy toward the media to all 32 teams Wednesday. The reminder came in light of reports that several Jets players made Ines Sainz, a television reporter, feel uncomfortable last weekend. “Women are a common part of the sports media,” said the memo, which had the policy attached. “By law, women must be granted the same rights to perform their jobs as men. Please remember that women reporters are professionals and should be treated as such.”
Rex Ryan was interviewed by NFL security officials on Tuesday, and the league continued to look into reports of inappropriate behavior toward Sainz, who has said she heard nothing sexual in the comments about her while in the locker room.
On Tuesday, Washington Redskins tailback Clinton Portis’ comment about women reporters wanting to see “53 packages” was denounced as “clearly inappropriate” by NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello. Soon after, Arizona Cardinals lineman Darnell Dockett made a similarly insensitive remark on his Twitter account. Both players later apologized.
