Today the company announced that the HTC Evo had the biggest sales ever on a launch day for Sprint. Previously, the record was held by the Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre.
Sprint wouldn’t provide specific numbers. What they say is: “The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.”
BTIG Research analysist Walter Piecyk estimated that Sprint sold at least 250,000 Evos over the weekend, but indicated that “it would also be reasonable to speculate that sales could have topped 300,000 this weekend given the pre-ordering appointments that extended throughout the weekend.”
Dan Hesse CEO of Sprint said, “HTC EVO 4G is a clear winner for customers with the powerful combination of an amazing multimedia experience in 3G coverage areas that becomes even better in our growing number of 4G markets. It is terrific to see customers react so positively to this device and the innovative experience it brings to them.”
It is HTC’s flagship Android smartphone which features 4.3 inch TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. With a built in flash it has an eight megapixel camera which can record HD video in 720p.
