A couple of sources have tipped us about the upcoming wedding between country star Carrie Underwood and pro hockey player Mike Fisher.
Country singer Carrie Underwood and hockey player Mike Fisher has taken over a tranquil resort in Greensboro, Georgia. The former American Idol contestant and her NHL groom are tying the knot this weekend at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation. Local papers confirm that security is in full force and more than 250 rooms are rented out for celebrity guests including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and members of Fisher’s team the Ottawa Senators.
The Life & Style magazine Web site includes comments from the couple about the ceremony:
“It’s going to be a good size wedding with plenty of good food and an open bar,” Fisher said. “But nothing too overblown. It’s still in the planning stages, so a lot of the details haven’t been finalized.”
The ceremony will reportedly cost more than $500,000, with the cost of the hotel alone expecting to reach $268,000. After a year of dating, the two got engaged when Fisher, 30, proposed in December 2009.
Although the former “American Idol” champ imagined a small and intimate wedding, she told Usmagazine.com in Januarythat just couldn’t be possible.
There are so many people, Underwood, 27, said to the magazine. “He has a huge family; they’re all really close. My family is big, but we’re not that tight-knit. His is about three times the size of mine.”
