Legislation is Pending to Extend Eligibility Dates for Benefit Extensions (Updated for the week of July 19th)
Legislation to extend eligibility dates for benefit extensions is still pending. Although Congress is back from recess, we do not know when they will act on the pending legislation. In the meantime, unless you have received instructions to file a new claim, please continue to claim weekly benefits in the usual manner. If and when the legislation passes, any week you claimed that is covered by the legislation will be paid to you, provided the legislation is retroactive. Extended Benefits (EB) are not currently payable after week ending June 6, 2010, even though your Benefit Payment History may show a remaining balance. Also, you are not currently able to move into a new Tier of EUC after week ending May 30, 2010. For updates on benefit extensions, continue visiting this website. For an estimate of the number of weeks you may be currently eligible for, see Chart or use the Benefits Calculator.
Advisory for Individuals Claiming Extended Benefits
If you failed to search for work during the past week for any reason, you should not claim extended benefits for that week; otherwise you may be disqualified from receiving benefits until you have worked for four (4) weeks and earned four (4) times your weekly benefit amount.
You may file a claim between the hours of 7:30 am to 7:30 pm Monday through Thursday (Eastern Time), Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, all day Saturday, and Sunday until 7:00 pm.
You may claim benefits for last week between the hours of 7:30 am to midnight Sunday through Saturday.
