Leonardo DiCaprio hopes his mind-warp thriller “Inception” will be a hit in Japan, which has long shown a taste for anime fantasies and surreal works by its own master-director Akira Kurosawa.

Christopher Nolan’s Inception grossed $21.6 million during its opening day on July 16, 2010, with midnight screenings in 1,600 locations. Overall the film made an estimated $60.4 million on its opening weekend.
