On Wednesday, one of the most popular pop singers of the 1950s Eddie Fisher who is the ex of Elizabeth Taylor dies. He was 82.
His daughter Tricia Leigh Fisher told the Associated Press, he passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery.
According to a statement which is released by his family, “Late last evening the world lost a true America icon. Eddie Fisher, 82, one of the greatest voices of the century passed away in Berkeley, CA due to complications and a decline in health from a recent hip surgery. He was loved and will be missed by his four children: Carrie, Todd, Joely, and Tricia Leigh as well as his six grandchildren. He was an extraordinary talent.”
His first marriage was to movie star Debbie Reynolds. He had 2 children named Carrie and Todd with her. But after 4 years of first his marriage, in 1959 he made international headlines when he left his wife to marry Hollywood star Elizabeth Taylor.
Ten months after when Taylor left him, he married Connie Stevens. When he was 47 he married 21 years old Terry Richard which lasted only 10 months. His final marriage was to Betty Lin, who died in 2001.
In all, Fisher was married five times and had four children, including actress Joely Fisher.
In the early 50s, Fisher sold millions of records with 32 hit songs. Some of his popular songs include,”Thinking of You,” “I’m Walking Behind You,” “Any Time,” “Oh, My Pa-pa,” “I’m Yours,” “Wish You Were Here,” “I Need You Now,” “Lady of Spain” and “Count Your Blessings.”
