Officially, Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy leaked to the internet. His new album 2010 will be scheduled November 22 release date. The new Kanye West album leaks prove no matter how high profile you are, your album will eventually leak.
Although Kanye West has been giving away plenty of free music via his G.O.O.D.Fridays, he probably didn’t want to give away his entire new album. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy has had a lot of buzz built for it, including the 35-minute Runaway film featuring Selita Ebanks.
Background: It was revealed that outside production would be provided by Q-Tip, RZA, DJ Premier and Pete Rock. DJ Premier has since revealed that the beat he made will not appear on the album.
Based on a recent interview, DJ Premier also credits Kanye for bringing back the popularity of sampling old records.
“Well, first of all, if you look at all of Kanye West’s output, he actually did a lot to bring back sampling and make it cool again, even though he’s more of a mainstream artist…but his new album is strictly hard beats and rhyme. He’s totally done with electro. You’re gonna be surprised what you hear.”
On July 24, 2010, on Kanye West’s blog, a banner appeared reading “My Dark Twisted Fantasy Trailer”. On July 28, 2010, Kanye announced via his new official Twitter account that “The album is no longer called ‘Good Ass Job’ I’m bouncing a couple of titles around now.” Kanye performed a few of the tracks at the Facebook headquarters including “See Me Now”, “Lost in the World”, “Chain Heavy” and “Mama’s Boyfriend”. On the same day, Kanye performed an unknown track at the Twitter Headquarters, but he did not mention the title in the performance. It was reported that Kanye has spent over $3 million of Def Jam’s money on the recording of the album.
The official title was announced on October 5, 2010, one day after the release date of November 22, 2010 was announced.
