England arrive in South Africa for World Cup 2010

The England team squad, lead by Fabio Capello, touch down in Johannesburg early on Thursday morning at Tambo International Airport in South Africa.

Apart from the host and Brazil, England could be considered as one of the most popular teams at this year’s World Cup, with all EPL games screened live on television.

The English team are amongst the favorites to lift the Cup, although there will be a great challenge from the likes of Brazil, Argentina, and Spain.

After the necessary procedures when coming into the country, the squad left for Rustenburg on a luxury coach. They drove two hours to the northwest, where they will be welcomed at the newly-built Marang Hotel.

England will be based at the Bafokeng Sports Facility, which boasts some of the best facilitites in the country.

Their first test will be the USA on June the 12 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

Capello spoke to reporters just minutes after landing: “I hope the World Cup will be a big success for South Africa and also for my team. Thank you. It is good to be here.”
