Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez is going head-to-head with Hollywood actress, Halle Berry for the launch of both stars’ new scents this fall.
J.Lo has sold $1 billion worth of perfume in the course of her 16 releases, and October’s Love and Glamour (notes of mandarin, guava, nectarine, water lily, coconut orchid, orange blossom, jasmine, sandalwood, sensual musk and amber) will add to her fragrance empire at $49.50 a bottle, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
Halle Berry has also been very successful with her fragrances – her second scent Pure Orchid was the bestseller in the US feminine mass market in January and February, according to WWD – prompting her distributor Coty to release the third one, called Reveal, in August.
Her new fragrance, starting at $17, will be based on her favorite flower, mimosa, paired with peach, honeydew melon, red berries, iris blossom, vetiver, cashmere woods and skin musk.
Both stars are embodying divas in the spotlight for their ad campaigns, with Lopez posing in big hair and make-up and Berry depicted in a glamorous interview situation – an interesting countermove to beauty’s recent ‘get real’ movement: Jennifer Aniston’s ‘au naturel’ Lolavie perfume, launching this month, might be more in tune with that trend.
