Jennifer Lopez Film The Back Up Plan Box Office

The Back-Up Plan is a romantic comedy film, starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O’Loughlin. It was released in theaters in the US on April 23, 2010. J.Lo went out of her way to promote her come-back film ‘The Back-Up Plan.” But her efforts have failed as the movie received a poor opening at the US box-office.

The Back-Up Plan earned $4,200,000 at 3,280 theaters on its Friday debut, making number one at the box office. It dropped to #2 at the weekend box office with an estimated gross of $12,250,000, averaging $3,735 per theater.

The singer-actress Jennifer Lopez , who has had four consecutive flops after ‘An Unfinished Life’, ‘El Cantante’ and ‘Bordertown’, is currently on a Europe tour to promote the film.

‘The Back-Up Plan’ which cost about USD 35 million to make, opened below several other Lopez films in the same genre, such as 2001’s ‘The Wedding Planner’ and 2002’s ‘Maid in Manhattan’ despite years of ticket-price inflation, though both of those had bigger-name male costars.

The unmarried Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) is desperate for a child, and is artificially inseminated through a sperm bank. Newly pregnant, but not yet showing and unaware of her pregnancy, she meets Stan (Alex O’Loughlin), and the two start dating. Romantic complications ensue once she reveals to him she was pregnant when they met.
